The Faculty of Science and Medicine of the University of Fribourg, through the Deanery Council from 12.05.2022, after information of the Faculty Council from 30.05.2022, decided to award the Faculty Prize 2022 to Jhonny Pincay Nieves, former Ph.D. student of the Human-IST Institute for his PhD-thesis entitled “Smartifying Logistics with Computational Intelligence”, realized under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Edy Portmann and in collaboration with Viasuisse AG and the Swiss Post AG.

Dr. Pincay Nieves successfully defended his thesis on 03.03.2022 and it was accepted by the Faculty of Science and Medicine upon the recommendation of:

• Prof. Dr. Rolf Ingold: University of Fribourg, Switzerland, as Jury President.

• Prof. Dr. Edy Portmann: University of Fribourg, Switzerland, as Thesis Supervisor.

• Prof. Dr. Miroslav Hudec: University of Economics in Bratislava, Slovakia, and VSB Technical University of Ostrava, Czech Republic, as External Expert.

• P.D. Dr. Luis Terán: University of Fribourg, Switzerland, as Internal Expert.
